Juco Showcase a Success!

By Coach Welby

This was the first annual All-American Juco Showcase held at Liberty.  100 of the top Juco players from over 30 states attended the showcase and displayed their skills in front of over 200 college coaches.  Each player was evaluated throughout the showcase by colleges from Division 1 to NAIA.  Teams were selected based on overall ability and position and there were very competitive games played both days culminated by the top 20 players selected to compete in the showcase All-Star game.  The All-Star game came down to the final shot as both teams were tied 83-83 and Stuart Sullivan drained a long 3 pointer for the victory.

The Liberty boys basketball program would like to thank Justin Phelps and his entire staff for organizing and putting on a very successful event.  Next years showcase will be better than ever as plans are already underway for Liberty to once again host this event.

A special thanks goes out to the Liberty players, coaching staff & parents who assisted in running the event.  Mr. & Mrs. Hitchcock & Mrs. Mitchum, Coach Lazaroff, Coach Broadnax, Coach Lynaugh, Coach Straub, Coach Hahn, Jeremy Lagasca, Cole Mitchum, Matt Hitchcock, Alvin Lacap, Deonta Brown, Jeremy Lontoya helped make this years inaugural showcase a huge success!  Thank you very much for all of your dedication and commitment!
